DALROD Oxford Impress Local Tennis Club With Ambitious Project

Ask anyone who is running their own business, and they will tell you just how important it is to build a strong relationship with your customers and the people in your support network.

DALROD Oxford had a challenging project to take on recently and in order to get the job done right it needed a few extra helping hands! The local Lower Windrush Tennis Club wanted to install a new club house next to the courts, however with no fresh water or drainage nearby it wasn’t going to be a straightforward task. DALROD Oxford were contacted to help the tennis club establish a solution and cost up the project to gain approval from a number of stakeholders and raise funding.

As part of the initial investigation work the team at DALROD Oxford visited site and quickly discovered that the closest drain was over 80m away in a children’s playground and the freshwater supply was over 90m away in a car park the other side of the village hall. This was not going to be simple!

This is also where close working relationships come in handy. DALROD Oxford began working on finding a suitable solution for the customer, but they needed some extra advice on one element – fresh water. That’s were our service partner Bregan MainsFlow came in. Their expertise in installing new supplies along with the extensive drainage knowledge of DALROD helped develop a practical and cost-efficient solution to enable the Club to gain funding for the project.

Funding can take a while to be approved, however James from DALROD Oxford was on hand to support the Club with stakeholder engagement, project modifications and support along the way. When the funding was obtained the next phase of the project began and meetings were set up with the Club and Village Hall Committee to gain final approval for the route of the drainage, new water supply, closing of the playground and reinstatement of the various areas after the project.

With over 80m of trenching for the drainage pipe to be dug and a big hole required for the pump station sump to be excavated it made sense to bringing in the assistance of Mandy Kelly from a neighbouring service centre. DALROD Bath & Swindon have access to some heavy-duty equipment and with Mandy being a qualified digger driver she had the trench and sump dug out in no time at all.

“Sometimes a project such as this can feel like it is taking a long time,” said James Stone from DALROD Oxford. “When there is so much that needs to be achieved, we are always conscious of doing a high quality and professional job for the customer and also working to the deadlines we are set. This particular project required the assistance of some trusted service partners and colleagues, in collaboration we worked together to exceed this customers’ expectations.”

With the sump tank in place, pipe laid, trench backfilled, and area reinstated our attention turned to pouring the four concrete pads for the new club house to sit on.

All the team could do now was wait for the arrival of the club house so the final connection and commission could be undertaken to the waste system and the fresh water supply could be installed.

So we waited and waited and waited, finally the Club had a delivery date and the next phase of the project was booked in.

Through a combination of trenching and moling Bregan MainsFlow installed, connected and tested over 90m of new 25mm water supply, along with a new sub meter to the village hall supply. DALROD Oxford completed the final connections to the waste system, tested and commission the pumps and set the level for the high-water alarm to the pump station.

The customer is delighted with the final result, and they now have their new club house up and operational and we know they won’t be experiencing any drainage issues with this any time soon!
